Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Inspector I will oversee both QA Receipt Inspection and QA Production Inspection. The key responsibilities include sampling and inspecting incoming packaging and chemical raw materials for compliance with regulatory and company standards. This role ensures the accuracy and completeness of materials required to execute a production batch. The inspector is also responsible for issuing batch records and monitoring production quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate each receipt for conformance to purchase order requirements.
- Verify the integrity of shipping containers and ensure accurate labeling.
- Sample each receipt based on a statistical sampling plan.
- Inspect sampled items using visual evaluations and measurement devices.
- Document activities performed and maintain files of receipt inspection.
- Perform computer transactions according to Quality Systems receipt inspection process.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of item specifications and masterfiles.
- Coordinate with the Purchasing Department for supplier standards setup.
- Monitor line clearance functions and issue production paperwork and labels.
- Draw samples for testing, retention, and stability purposes.
- Act as liaison between Production and Quality Departments.
- Perform yearly monitoring of retain samples and examine labeling before filling operations.
- Understand and review all compliance steps related to OTC drug production.
Additional Responsibilities
- Quarantine non-conforming filling/packaging materials.
- Prepare "REJECT" stickers for rejected materials.
- Assist with the auditing program and APR review.
- Organize and maintain sample retention within the retain room.
- Support the quality system processes.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; additional education preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Quality Assurance environment, preferably in the cosmetics/pharmaceutical OTC industry.
- Computer literacy and strong organizational skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
- Understanding of batch documentation and compliance steps.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years in a Quality Assurance environment.
- Experience in the cosmetics/pharmaceutical OTC industry preferred.
Skills
- Proficiency in using measurement devices such as scales, rulers, micrometers, and calipers.
- Excellent organizational and listening skills.
- Ability to follow procedures and prepare detailed documentation.
- Understanding of vendor documentation for components' shelf-life and project support capabilities.
