Job Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Surgery Scheduler to manage the coordination of surgical appointments for multiple providers. This role involves working with hospitals or surgical centers to schedule surgeries, including pre-operative and post-operative arrangements, and ensuring all necessary authorizations are obtained. The scheduler will also handle general appointment scheduling and will communicate with patients through various platforms.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Manage a heavy workflow, scheduling up to 20 surgeries per week.
- Coordinate schedules for 2-3 providers, including surgery and regular appointments.
- Communicate with hospitals and surgical centers by sending scheduling sheets and obtaining procedure authorizations.
- Utilize multiple communication methods with patients, such as portals, text messages, and emails.
- Assist in covering the PBX during lunch breaks.
- Contribute to other departmental activities as necessary.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year experience in scheduling (open to training candidates willing to learn).
- Experience in orthopedics is highly beneficial, including knowledge of body parts and procedures.
- Proficiency in submitting authorizations through insurance portals.
- Ability to manage schedules and send orders to Primary Care Physician offices.
- Strong follow-through skills.
- Open to candidates with backgrounds in regular scheduling, prior authorization, or IVS with proven reliability.
Schedule / Shift
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The position is onsite and is a contract to hire.
