Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Director of Social Services to lead and manage the Social Services Department. The role involves planning, organizing, and directing departmental operations, ensuring administrative and clinical functions are running smoothly. The Director will be responsible for fostering an empowering environment for staff, maintaining effective communication within and outside the department, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Demonstrate the organization's mission and values in interactions with stakeholders.
- Plan, organize, direct, and control departmental operations.
- Ensure smooth administrative and clinical functions within the department.
- Employ management practices that empower staff and provide clear expectations.
- Promote harmonious relationships and effective communication within and across departments.
- Provide in-service training on the legal/conservatorship system.
- Coordinate the Utilization Review Committee and develop related procedures.
- Supervise and coordinate student intern placements and provide leadership and clinical training.
- Collaborate on strategic planning for facility effectiveness.
- Assist at other facilities when needed, potentially requiring limited travel.
- Establish relationships with local agencies to support community care for members served.
- Determine staffing requirements and manage recruitment, selection, and disciplinary actions.
- Maintain job specifications and descriptions for departmental personnel.
- Coordinate with county Mental Health Services and psychiatric hospitals for admissions and discharges.
- Evaluate prospective admissions for appropriateness.
- Manage the department within budgetary constraints and contribute to budget development.
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local licensing regulations.
- Establish and maintain care standards for safety and therapeutic effectiveness.
- Assess and maintain the quality of care provided by the department.
- Develop a Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement program, ensuring high-quality care.
- Assist with restraint or evasion of members served during assaultive behavior, if applicable, and complete relevant training.
