Job Description
The Behavioral Health Supervisor is responsible for supervising counselors to enhance their effectiveness and ensure the facility can treat patients with higher risk levels. This role will improve treatment outcomes, increase patient engagement, and maintain high standards of care.
Responsibilities/Job Duties:
- Mental Health Evaluations:
- Conduct initial, annual, and crisis mental health evaluations for patients as needed.
- Caseload Management:
- Maintain a caseload of a minimum of 40 patients, as determined by the Clinic Director.
- Counseling Services:
- Provide individual and group psychotherapy, care coordination, extended evaluations, and crisis intervention using evidence-based practices.
- Community Referrals:
- Refer patients to external services as needed, follow up on referrals, and track patient engagement with those services.
- Clinical Supervision:
- Supervise CASAC Counselors, conducting weekly meetings with a focus on case analysis, treatment planning, and case management.
- Documentation:
- Ensure timely completion of program and reporting documentation in systems such as EMR, ERDS, HRA-STARS, and OASAS-CDS.
- Risk Assessment:
- Conduct risk assessments (suicide, homicide, etc.), ensuring safety planning and notifications are made when necessary.
- Staff Training & Coaching:
- Provide training to CASAC Counselors on evidence-based practices and managing high-risk patients.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure counselors adhere to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.
- Collaboration:
- Participate in individual/group supervision, weekly Case Conferences, and Multi-Disciplinary Team Meetings.
- Ongoing Education:
- Complete mandatory training via the Relias training platform.
- Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative coverage for clinic management as needed and assist other clinics when required.
- Special Projects:
- Take on special projects as assigned by clinic management.
- Travel:
- Occasional travel may be required.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements:
Education: LMSW/LMHC/MHC-LP/MSW with Limited Permit required.
Experience:
- 3-5 years in addiction treatment services, including experience with individuals with co-occurring disorders. (internship experience is acceptable)
- At least 2 years of experience as a staff trainer or treatment supervisor.
Training: Completion of OASAS Clinical Supervision Foundations I and II within one year of hire.
Assessments: Experience in psychological assessments and documentation of diagnosis per DSM-V.
Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written, oral, and interpersonal).
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
Language Skills: Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
Preferred Qualifications:
- OTP (Opioid Treatment Program) experience preferred.
- Credentialed Substance Abuse and Alcoholism Counselor (CASAC) preferred.
