Job Summary
The Psychiatric Social Worker is responsible for participating in outpatient services for adults, coordinating and managing service plans for clients, while working under the clinical supervision of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. The role requires applying social work knowledge to assist clients within family and community contexts.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Conducts individual, conjoint, or family therapy with assigned patients.
- Assists in the formulation and implementation of coordination and service plans.
- Ensures full participation of all clients in the program and assures continuity of care.
- Responsible for discharge planning and in-service training for the team.
- Relieves other primary therapists as needed and maintains confidentiality of client-related matters.
- Cooperates with fundraising activities and works with multicultural and ethnic populations.
- Maintains records, prepares reports, and serves as liaison to other departments for client referrals.
- Monitors patient satisfaction with services quarterly and refers to other agencies when appropriate.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Education
- A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Clinical Psychology from an accredited college.
- A valid registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or license eligibility.
Qualifications
- A minimum of one (1) year experience in a psychiatric facility working with persistently and severely mentally ill patients is preferred.
- Applicants must be physically well, emotionally stable, and possess good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work with a multidisciplinary treatment team is essential.
