The Visual Acuity Examiner is responsible for conducting vision tests, including refraction and visual acuity assessments, based on study guidelines. Daily tasks may vary depending on experience and organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate patient flow with the study team.
• Perform vision tests such as refraction with loose lenses, visual acuity assessments, low-light vision tests, and reading speed tests (MN Read and Radner).
• Conduct contrast sensitivity (Pelli-Robson), color vision tests, and other trial-required vision assessments.
• Follow study protocols accurately when performing tests and procedures.
• Understand and adhere to vision-related study protocols.
• Use a manual lensometer to read prescriptions from glasses.
• Perform keratometry (measuring the curvature of the eye's surface).
• Measure intraocular pressure using tonopen and Goldmann applanation, and dilate patients as needed.
• Organize and manage essential study documents.
• Assist with additional projects and tasks as required, showing flexibility and initiative.
• Obtain and maintain required certifications in a timely manner.
• Ensure the visual acuity lane meets certification standards.
• Maintain and track all testing equipment, lenses, and charts.
• Keep records of certified equipment, including burn-in logs and light bulb replacements, and provide updates to sponsors and clinical trial staff.
