Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Long Term Care Pharmacist to join their team. The primary responsibilities include reviewing and dispensing prescriptions, ensuring the accuracy of prescription orders, and providing support and counseling to nursing facility staff regarding medications and health topics. You will play a crucial role in promoting communication and enhancing pharmacy service and production performance.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Review prescriptions to ensure accuracy and determine the necessary formulas and ingredients.
- Compound sterile and non-sterile medications by weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
- Direct pharmacy staff involved in mixing, packaging, and labeling prescriptions.
- Dispense medications and counsel nursing facility staff and physicians about medication therapy.
- Counsel staff on general health topics and provide information on medical equipment and supplies.
- Maintain storage and record systems for medication safekeeping.
- Encourage communication between internal and external customers to improve pharmacy service.
- Provide after-hours, weekend, and holiday support through on-call processes.
- Assist in developing quality improvements and ensuring prescription order accuracy.
- Interact with physicians, residents, and facility administrators to maintain positive customer relations.
- Ensure compliance with regulations and advise staff on regulatory changes.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Doctorate or better in Pharmacy or related field.
- License to practice pharmacy in the state of the position is required.
- Willingness to obtain licensure for multiple states as requested by management.
Qualifications
- Licensed Pharmacist.
- Capable of maintaining regular attendance.
- Knowledgeable of state, federal, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
