Job description

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced MIG Welder / Fabricator to join our first shift team in Itasca, IL. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating and welding components used in the construction of automated production machines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in MIG welding, fabrication, and working with various types of metal, including mild steel and stainless steel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform MIG welding on components and assemblies, ensuring high-quality welds that meet industry standards; working with carbon steel and stainless steel.
  • Fabricate parts and assemblies according to blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Use various tools and equipment, such as grinders, saws, and presses, to cut, shape, and prepare metal components for welding.
  • Inspect completed welds and fabricated components to ensure they meet quality specifications.
  • Work closely with engineers and other team members to ensure that components are fabricated and assembled according to specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety protocols and company policies.
  • Perform routine maintenance on welding and fabrication equipment as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to welding and fabrication processes.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification in welding (AWS or equivalent) is a plus with 3+ years of experience as a MIG Welder / Fabricator, preferably in an OEM or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with fabrication processes, including cutting, grinding, and forming metal components.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding prints and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong understanding of safety practices and procedures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
