Veterinary Technician

Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Triage animal illnesses during workdays, including rotational weekend, on-call, and holiday coverage.
  • Maintain records of animal exams, diagnoses, treatments, and lab results.
  • Assist with animal handling, anesthesia, surgical prep, monitoring, euthanasia, and specimen collection.
  • Keep surgical facilities clean and stocked, track medication inventory, and schedule equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain controlled substance and medical records.
  • Manage supplies, dispense medications, and report inventory needs.
  • Participate in continuing education and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: Associate's degree or equivalent, with lab animal medicine experience. At least one year of veterinary clinical practice preferred.
  • Licensure: Veterinary technician licensure preferred within 12 months.
  • Skills: Animal handling, clinical techniques, record-keeping, teamwork, and communication. Ability to lift 50 lbs. and use protective gear.

Work Environment: Exposure to noise, temperature changes, biohazards, allergens, and physical activity is expected.
