Job description

The Triage / Clinical RN role is a mix of Triage Nurse and Urology Clinic Nurse responsibilities. The Urology RN is responsible for providing professional nursing Assessments, prioritizing treatments according to the urgency of the need, and providing medical care to patients at the clinic.

Triage RN Responsibilities:

  • Use critical thinking and nursing and triage skills to assess patient problems, both in the office and on the phone, to determine disposition of patients.
  • Facilitate patient care and document all communication into the electronic health record.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and team members.
  • Consistently demonstrate correct handling of procedure specimens per providers orders, including appropriate identification, labeling, dating and disposition of the specimen.
  • Communicate physician treatment plan; lab/imaging results to patients and document appropriately within the EMR.
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA regulations and completes required staff training.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.

Clinical RN Responsibilities:

  • Escorts patients to and from the exam room for procedures.
  • Patient education and assist physicians with Urolift and Space OARs, Aveed and Provenge, assess for allergic reaction.
  • Performs independently Catheter and suprapubic catheter changes, Aveed, Provenge infusions, PTNS, Bladder Instillations, and Urodynamics
  • Clean and use high level disinfection of instruments.
  • Utilizes current nursing practices to provide patient care while focusing on the needs of the patient and exemplifying service excellence, care, concern, respect and cooperation. As a member of a healthcare team, functions in the role of patient advocate by being in the position of initial contact for patient-related issues.
  • Utilize EPIC to chart patient care.

Schedule/Shift

  • M-F 8:00am - 5:00pm

3-5 Must Have Skills/Qualifications

  • 2-3 Years Triage RN Experience (Does not have to be Urology)
  • Efficient in Customer Service and Patient Care (Reducing long call times)
  • WA State Nursing License
  • BA from and Accredited School of Nursing
  • Quick Decision Making Skills
  • Efficient Multi-Tasking

Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience with EPIC Software
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in computer applications (Excel/Word), with the ability to learn new software programs and expand knowledge on new computer systems.

Soft Skill/Attribute Requirements

  • Ability to handle stressful and constantly changing conditions
  • Team player that can work well without supervision
