Triage Registered Nurse

Job description

8:00am-5:00pm, M-F

In need of 1 RN for The Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgical Institute of Texas practice.

-RN will be under 1 provider

*This RN will travel with the provider and MA to two locations throughout the week
*Main location (Mon, Wed, Fri) - 540 Madison Oak Suite 460 San Antonio, TX 78258
*Satellite location (Tues, Thurs) - 8715 Village Dr. Suite 608 San Antonio, TX 78217
*Mileage is reimbursed

*Covid vaccine highly encouraged, but not required - have a declination form
*Flu vaccine not required - will have to wear a mask at all times if decline

*This is a very slow clinic with about 5 patients a day because are so specialized
*This RN needs to be ok with a slower rhythm and very detail oriented

*Have seen success with pulling RNs from the hospital that want a slower pace and set schedule - less DPC as well
this is a heavy phone and triage position!

Hours: 8-5, M-F
EMR: Athena (outpatient) and Cerner (in-patient) - will use Cerner to communicate with the hospital

Daily Duties: medication refills, wound care, constant communication with the provider/patient/hospital staff, complete any directive from the provider, supervise the MA on staff, phone triage, debriefing patients before surgery, intaking pre and post op patients, medical histories, vitals, EKGs -- all in all it will be a very admin and phone heavy position since patient volume is so low, need someone who wants a slower pace and wants less DPC

*MA and RN will work hand in hand - MA will handle most of the chart prep, documentation, rooming, etc. and the RN will assist with more of the wound care and patient debriefing/prep before surgery

*Active Texas State RN license

*Reliability, attendance, and attention to detail is very important

*Open on experience, but usually more seasoned/older RNs want this position to get off their feet
*Experience in Surgery or a Hospital environment is essential
