Job description

Summary:

Provides care to patients, aged eighteen throughout the life span. Care is rendered by providing and controlling the sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment required during surgical intervention. Assures that instruments and supplies are cleaned, sterilized, and available when needed.


Overview
-Come in and pull cases for the next day
-Set up sterile field
-Pass instrumentation
-Catheters
-They are the "Go-to" next to the physician
-Circulator is never in contact with instrumentation, always scrub tech
-Decontamination process
-If they have extra they will always help process instrumentation
-Minimum of 4 procedure cases
-Up to 9, 12 on a crazy day

3-5 Must Have Skills/Qualifications:
-Understanding the names and functions of basic instrumentation, understanding sterile technique
-Some exposure to Urology
-6 months (at least some urology) already had 12-18 months in school
-Understands how to set up a sterile field and pass instrumentation
-Dont have to be certified but do need schooling (not a requirement in WA)
-2 schools in the area (Spokane CC preferred if they are local)

Nice to Have Skills
-Experience processing instruments
-Times that their primary tech is on vacation they will need them to step in on this but can train this up if need be

Schedule/Shift

-7am - 3:30 M-F

Training Schedule:
-1st day: online education modules (completed within the first week)
-Put them right into the OR from there, spend 1-2 days in sterile processing w/ their lead tech there. Dependant on prior experience may spend a week or two training here.
-Will sub in and help with turnover and OOO for a few weeks. Will eventually be in a more predictable and regular role with a few of the same providers. They currently have 2 techs that rotate case by case.
