Job description

Job Overview: The Supervisor for Specimen Management is tasked with staffing, training, and overseeing personnel within the Specimen Management area. This role ensures that the area operates in full compliance with GLP requirements, protocols, SOPs, and any additional sponsor requirements, achieved through proactive and efficient resource management. The Supervisor will also manage scheduling to ensure efficient workflows and group training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain GLP Standards: Ensure all staff adhere to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Optimize Workload and Scheduling: Develop, review, and revise workloads and schedules to achieve optimal results.
  • Monitor Study Progress: Oversee study progress to ensure timely responses, tracking, monitoring timelines, and conducting audits.
  • Staff Supervision and Training: Schedule and supervise Specimen Management staff. Determine training needs, manage, and monitor assigned staff, clearly communicating expectations and areas of accountability.
  • Collaborate and Communicate: Attend and participate in meetings related to study planning and specimen management. Coordinate and communicate with Study Directors, Coordinators, Pathologists, Laboratory staff, Vivarium staff, and various shipping agencies.
  • Manage Permits and Certificates: Ensure valid import permits/certificates are in place before shipping specimens to intended recipients.
  • Meet Deadlines: Ensure the department meets all internal and external deadlines.
  • Ensure Data and Equipment Compliance: Verify that data and equipment are accurate, complete, consistent, and compliant with GLP and SOP standards.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in a laboratory or regulated environment is desired, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Supervisory experience, preferably in a regulated environment, is also desired.
  • Experience following GLP guidelines.
  • LIMS experience
