The Specimen Sorter plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of specimen processing in the laboratory or healthcare setting. This position is responsible for verifying specimen labels, ensuring proper temperature conditions, and sorting specimens based on type for further processing. The Specimen Sorter contributes to maintaining a high level of quality, safety, and productivity.

Responsibilities/ Job Duties (not limited to the following):

  • Verify specimen labels and temperatures upon receipt; report discrepancies.
  • Sort specimens by type and place them in designated bins for processing.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all work, following procedures.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and practices to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Meet departmental productivity standards and support efficient workflow.
  • Assist with cost management, waste reduction, and expense monitoring.
  • Communicate courteously with internal teams and external customers.
  • Support company values and adhere to the Code of Conduct.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Reliable/dependable
  • Ability to stand for entire shift

Schedule/ Shift: Monday-Friday, 6pm-2:30am

Pay Range: $15.25/hour + 15% shift differential = $17.54/hour (shift differential ONLY applies to hours worked between 5pm-6am and you must work a minimum of two consecutive hours within this window in order to quality for the differential rate)
