We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Veterinary Technician to join our research team. In this role, you will oversee the care of laboratory animals, manage surgical operations, and provide leadership within a dynamic and collaborative environment. What You'll Do:
- Conduct daily health checks and provide clinical support for a variety of laboratory animals, including rodents, rabbits, pigs, and sheep.
- Prepare animals for surgery, monitor anesthesia, and provide post-surgical care.
- Maintain USDA-compliant surgery suite operations and manage inventory for surgical and veterinary supplies.
- Coordinate rodent shipments between academic institutions and handle import/export processes.
- Train staff in technical procedures such as restraint, injections, blood collection, and the use of specialized equipment.
- Act as a liaison between animal caretakers and veterinarians to address health concerns.
- Create and update SOPs and maintain accurate documentation of activities and procedures.
What We're Looking For:
- Education: High school diploma required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Biology, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: At least 3 years in a laboratory animal or veterinary setting, including hands-on anesthesia experience (with larger animsl such as canine, rabbits or pigs).
- Certifications: CVT, LVT, RVT, or AALAS LAT/LATG certification preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency with surgical and anesthesia procedures, strong organizational abilities, and the capability to lead and train a team.
Work Schedule:
- Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM or 7:30 AM-4:30 PM (flexible).
- No weekends required; occasional holiday hours and overtime available.
