Job description

We are looking for a Sr. DevOps Engineer to join our healthcare client in Parsippany, New Jersey on a permanent/direct hire basis. This organization provides or administers health coverage to more than 1.9 million people in New Jersey and Connecticut.

This is a hybrid position and the schedule will be in office Tuesday and Wednesday and remote Monday, Thursday and Friday. Starting in January 2025, they will be in office Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and remote Monday and Friday.

The ideal candidate will have GCP cloud exposure, extensive experience in implementing DevOps best practices, automating processes, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines. This Sr. DevOps Engineer will play a key role in designing and implementing scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions.

This permanent Sr. DevOps Engineer role offers a competitive salary in the $140K range commensurate on experience, plus competitive benefits.   • Be part of on-call support team which provides 24*7 production support. Work across teams to triage issues.
  • Develop and implement operational policies,procedure and standards.
  • Monitor system performance and address any issues to minimize downtime.
  • Configure and manage Datadog monitoring solutions to ensure the heath and performance of IT systems and applications.
  • Create custom dashboards and alerts to proactively identify and address issues.
  • Analyze monitoring data to optimize system performance and troubleshoot problems.
  • Implement and manage Azure DevOps for continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD) and version control.
  • Collaborate with development teams to create and optimize build and release pipeline.
  • Ensure smooth collaboration between development, operations and other stakeholders using Azure DevOps.
  • Design, develop and implement automation workflows using Power automate to streamline business processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for automation to improve efficiency.
  • Integrate Power Automate with other applications and services.
  • Develop scripts and automation solutions to simplify repetitive tasks and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to manage and provision resources.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize automation scripts for optimal performance.
  • Work on optimization of deployment pipelines for Salesforce and Mulesoft cloud.
  • Advocate for the adoption of cloud journey within the organization, highlight its benefits and advantages.
  • Collaborate with cloud solution and enterprise architect on executing a strategic plan for migrating existing systems to cloud.
  • Work with enterprise and solution architects to implement API and event driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their automation and monitoring needs
  • Provide support to end-users, addressing technical issues and ensuring a positive user experience.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions to upskill IT staff members.
  • Create and maintain documentation for operational and automation scripts, processes and configurations.
  • Ensure that documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant team members.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 8+ years of IT experience
  • 3+ years experience in DevOps tools - Azure DevOps/GitHub Action. Proficiency with CI/CD tools and Azure DevOps tooling and deployment automation best practices.
  • 3+ years experience with Git and Git flows
  • 2+ years experience with IaC - terraform/ARM/Cloud formation
  • Experience with GCP or equivalent public cloud and its relevant build, deployment, automation, networking and security technologies in cloud and hybrid environments.

  • Firsthand experience of GCP or equivalent Platform products such as:
  • Networking (Virtual Private Cloud, Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud Interconnect)
  • Compute (Compute Engine, App Engine, Cloud Functions)
  • Data (Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, BigTable, BigQuery, Storage)
  • Configuration Mgmt. and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Cloud Deployment Manager)
  • Containers (GKE, Cloud Run)
  • Security (Cloud Identity, Certificate Authority Service, Secret Manager)

  • Strong knowledge of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP/S
  • Strong understanding of Security best practices including use of Key Stores, Certificates and OAuth
  • Familiar with DevOps/SRE philosophies and delivery though Agile Methodologies (SCRUM, Kanban)
  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or MIS and relevant field of study is preferred
