Job description

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our plastic surgery team in Bala Cynwyd. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, capable of maintaining sterile environments and providing crucial support to our surgical team.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and introduce yourself in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Ensure all supplies and instruments are sterile and readily available for surgical procedures.
  • Sterilize instruments for operative cases, maintaining sterility at all times.
  • Perform surgical scrub, don sterile attire, and provide sterile instruments to the surgical team during procedures.
  • Assist with dressing application and ensure proper disposal of used instruments.
  • Assist in transferring patients to the recovery area.
  • Thoroughly clean operating rooms, including all surfaces, tables, chairs, and floors.
  • Clean instruments manually and use ultrasonic cleaner according to established protocols.
  • Perform counts of sponges and sharps with circulating nurse pre-op, at skin closure, and when items are added to the field.
  • Utilize equipment and supplies in a cost-effective manner.
  • Handle all instruments with care, inspecting them before, during, and after surgery, and report any issues to the Director of Nursing.
  • Wrap cleaned instruments at the end of the day in preparation for sterilization.

Requirements:

  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST).
  • Experience in a surgical setting is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to universal precautions
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Extremely reliable

Schedule:

  • Surgery Days: Tuesday/Thursday: 7:30 am - 7:20pm
  • Office days: Monday/Wednesday/Friday: Half days, either 9:00 am - 1:00 pm or 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
