Job description

Candidates MUST reside in the state of Colorado

Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Claim Specialist to join our team. This remote position coordinates and facilitates all insurance claim submissions, rejections, account refunds, complex adjustments, and collection activities for our operations in Colorado. The role also involves posting denial and non-payment Explanation of Benefits and participating in the review of system setup requirements, billing guidelines, and fee reimbursements. The candidate will work with all Colorado payers, handling everything for the claim post-submission, including denials, rejections, appeals, A/R reconsiderations, and collections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage collection, submission, and claim rejections for assigned insurance accounts.
  • Ensure accurate and timely posting of insurance payments and adjustments in accordance with departmental policies and performance goals.
  • Utilize Accounts Receivable Aging Reports to track and maintain balances within acceptable ranges as prescribed by management.
  • Research, resolve, and respond to all assigned insurance, regulatory, and patient correspondence in a timely and professional manner.
  • Communicate with insurance company personnel to facilitate the resolution of outstanding payment issues.
  • Maintain internal audits and quality controls in accordance with departmental policies, procedures, generally accepted accounting practices, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Interpret and resolve written and phone correspondence involving bill transfers, adjustments, credit balances, and refunds to ensure prompt and accurate payments.
  • Understand and implement contractual requirements for billing to and collecting from assigned insurance carriers.
  • Identify and collaborate on process improvements for the insurance reimbursements area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule/Shift:

  • Flexible 8-hour shift between 6 am-5 pm CO time (Monday to Friday).
  • Must adhere to the chosen shift consistently.

Pay:

  • $18.50-$23/hour

Qualifications:

  • Must live in Colorado
  • 2+ years of experience in collections/denials.
  • Strong understanding of insurance claim submissions, denials, rejections, appeals, A/R reconsiderations, and collections.
  • Proficiency in handling complex adjustments and account refunds.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote setting.
