Are you passionate about animal care, veterinary medicine, and preclinical research? We are seeking dedicated Veterinary Technicians to join our team in a fast-paced, research-driven environment. This role offers the chance to work with a diverse range of animals, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to cutting-edge research while ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare.

About the Role

As a Veterinary Technician, you will work under the supervision of Veterinarians to provide medical care and support for research animals, including rodents and nonhuman primates (NHPs). This role is ideal for individuals with experience in veterinary clinics, emergency medicine, wildlife sanctuaries, or research settings who are looking to expand their expertise in anesthesia, medication administration, diagnostics, and minor surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care and support for medical treatments under veterinary supervision
  • Perform basic diagnostics (body weights, fecal analysis, blood collection, urine dipstick analysis)
  • Assist with animal procedures, including handling, sedation, medication administration (IM, SQ, PO), wound care, and vital sign assessment
  • Perform minor procedures such as nail trims, tail clippings, and tooth extractions
  • Support anesthesia monitoring and surgical preparation
  • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with GLP standards
  • Work independently to assess and triage animal health concerns
  • Participate in inventory management, equipment maintenance, and facility cleanliness

Who We're Looking For

  • Experience working directly with animals (veterinary clinics, wildlife care, shelters, or research settings)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment (handling up to 100 animals per day)
  • Computer-savvy - able to document cases and manage reports efficiently
  • Physically able to lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs (transporting animals and cages)
  • Comfortable working in a hot/humid environment with animals
  • Strong communication skills - ability to work cross-functionally across teams

Why Join Us?

  • Work in a growing organization with career advancement opportunities
  • Gain valuable hands-on experience in research-based veterinary care
  • Be part of a close-knit, highly experienced team
  • Competitive pay, benefits, and stable long-term career prospects

Note: Due to the nature of this role, candidates must be comfortable working around euthanasia, aggressive animal behavior (primates), and medical procedures involving sedation and injections.
