Job description

Overview:

This is a Hybrid In Vitro and In Vivo role!

Must Have Skills/Qualifications:

  • Histology experience
  • Necropsy experience
  • 3-5 years of industry experience in In Vitro and In Vivo

Knowledge and Accountability:

  • Lead the histology efforts for H&E and IH&C from assisting in the necropsy room all the way to prepping the histology slides for pathology shipping
  • Be the main person to operate various equipment that process samples to produce Hematology, Blood Chemistry and Coagulation using lab equipment
  • Commitment to follow through on tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to take direction however must successful work independently
  • Must be able to compile data, protocols, reports, prepare graphs, and analysis; GLP and non-GLP data documentation
  • Must have the ability to solve problems, offer solutions, think logically, and have a quick and retentive memory
  • Must have strong organizational and analytical skills and follow protocols
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, respond quickly and efficiently, and keep situations under control, in a fast-paced dynamic work environment.
  • Able to work with bio-hazardous or radioactive materials
  • Must possess a strong sense of urgency; occasional weekends, early mornings or late nights work may be required
  • Able to understand the internal and external needs and impact of duties and responsibilities
  • Must be a flexible, self-starting, and self-managing person
  • Quick turn-around requirements on requests and accuracy and thoroughness is critical
  • Ability to maintain confidential information in a professional manner
  • Constantly observes condition of the property's interior and exterior and immediately reports and/or initiates actions to correct unsafe and/or unacceptable established conditions
  • Consistently seeks out self-improvement opportunities in all aspects with the purpose of improving and training self
  • Always uses products and/or machines as recommended by the manufacturer's safety instructions

Equipment and Tools:

An employee in this position must be knowledgeable and skilled in the safe use and maintenance of the following equipment and tools:

  • Knows to use protective devices: gloves, goggles, mask, non-skid water safe shoes, etc.
  • Work using aseptic techniques, culture cell lines
  • Isolate cell types from human or animal blood with the help of experienced scientists
  • Maintains awareness of proper safety precautions at all times
  • Read SOPs and MSDS prior to performing new tasks
