Pay Range - $80k-$90K

Location: Charleston, SC

Job Type: Long Term Opportunity

Shift:

  • Operating Room - M-F 8am-5pm
  • Med Surg - Flexibility to work 3 12's or 4 8's - day and night shifts available

General Overview:

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Operating Room (OR) and Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) units. As an integral member of our healthcare team, the OR/Med-Surg RN will provide comprehensive care to our nation's Veterans, ensuring they receive high-quality, patient-centered care. This role requires versatility, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to work in both surgical and general patient care environments.

Essential Functions:

Operating Room (OR) Duties:

  • Prepare patients for surgery, ensuring that all necessary pre-operative instructions and protocols are followed.
  • Assist surgeons and other healthcare professionals during surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile environment and smooth operations.
  • Monitor patients during surgery, including anesthesia, vitals, and overall status.
  • Perform post-operative care, including wound care, monitoring for complications, and pain management.
  • Communicate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care and surgical procedures.


Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) Duties:

  • Provide care for post-operative patients and those admitted for a variety of medical conditions.
  • Assess and monitor patient condition, perform ongoing assessments, and develop individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and other treatments as prescribed by the physician.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, recovery expectations, and follow-up care.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to identify changes in patient status and intervene appropriately.
  • Ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and effective nursing care.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
  • Licensure: Current and unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state.
  • Certifications: BLS and ACLS certification required. Additional certifications in perioperative nursing (e.g., CNOR) or medical-surgical nursing (e.g., CMSRN) are preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of OR and/or Med-Surg nursing experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
