Job description

We currently seek an Occupational Health Nurse who will join our corporate Human Resources team located in Norcross, GA.The Occupational Health Nurse will provide on-site emergency medical services, preventive health care and employee counseling for our corporate community and the Norcross plant. The position is responsible for conducting, administering, and coordinating medical activities for employees and/or visitors as needed. The Occupational Health Nurse will also collaborate with the management team in the assessment, treatment, tracking and cost analysis of work-related illness and injuries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct nursing assessments, treatments, and follow-ups for health conditions, injuries, and illnesses.
  • Provide emergency care and first aid within clinical nursing guidelines.
  • Refer employees to EAP, medical plans, or other appropriate resources for health, work, stress, emotional, and substance abuse issues.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and OSHA standards.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of case management, nursing practice, and emergency first aid procedures.
  • Understand company programs, policies, and procedures for making appropriate decisions and referrals.
  • Stay updated on health and medical issues to provide resource information to employees and management.
  • Build trust and rapport with employees, departments, and management through good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Manage physical evaluation programs to meet regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, CDC, etc.).
  • Assist with accident investigations and root cause analysis for incidents and near misses.
  • Ensure appropriate access and utilization of healthcare services.
  • Maintain OSHA records/reports and worker medical files while managing healthcare programs to improve health and facilitate return to work.
  • Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety, Operations, and Human Resources on developing operations, programs, and services.
  • Contribute to the design of controls for injury prevention and health surveillance related to workplace hazards.

Key Qualifications:

  • Licensed healthcare professional
  • Familiarity with Federal and State Industrial Requirements
  • Working knowledge of Lead Standards
  • Strong case management skills
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal regulatory and compliance issues (OSHA, Lead Standard, Workers' Comp, Blood Borne Pathogens, etc.)
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously
  • Experience managing pandemic scenarios (preferred)
  • Experience in a 24x7 manufacturing environment (preferred)
  • Up-to-date with industrial medicine field advancements
  • Safety program management experience (preferred)
  • Enthusiastic and committed to understanding and satisfying client needs
  • Detail-oriented with strong multitasking abilities and great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills: MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) platforms such as Occupational Health Management (OHM) (preferred)

Education and/or Experience:

  • Active state nursing license as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Nursing degree required; certification in occupational health nursing or case management preferred
  • Basic understanding of federal and state regulations applicable to occupational and environmental health and safety
  • 3-5 years of experience in emergency, urgent care, or an occupational health setting

Schedule/Shift:

  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Shift can be flexible: 6:30-3:30pm, 7am-4pm 1 hour lunch, etc., but Monday-Friday)
  • Will be on call and paid to take a call. Very rare.
