Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our surgical team. In this role, you will be responsible for circulating in the operating room (OR), setting up surgical cases, and ensuring smooth transitions between cases. You will also interview patients prior to surgery and provide a handoff report to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).

Responsibilities:

  • Circulating in the OR: Serve as the circulating nurse during surgeries, ensuring all aspects of the procedure run smoothly and patient safety is maintained.
  • OR Setup: Prepare the operating room for surgical cases by ensuring all necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment are ready and sterile.
  • Room Turnover: Efficiently turn over rooms between surgical cases, ensuring proper sterilization and readiness for the next procedure.
  • Pre-Op Patient Interviews: Conduct thorough pre-operative interviews with patients to gather necessary medical history, assess risk factors, and ensure they are prepared for surgery.
  • Handoff Report to PACU: Provide clear and accurate handoff reports to the PACU team to ensure continuity of care and a smooth transition post-surgery.
  • Surgical Team Collaboration: Work closely with surgeons, surgical techs, and other team members to coordinate patient care and ensure timely surgeries.

Requirements:

  • Experience: At least 2 years of OR nurse experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Surgical Specialties: Experience in general surgery, GYN, urology, orthopedics, eyes, ENT, or spine surgery is preferred, but not required.
  • Certifications: Must hold a current RN license in Washington state, as well as ACLS and BLS certifications.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and excellent teamwork capabilities with MDs, Surgical Techs, and Surgical Support Assistants (SSAs).
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, ensure patient safety, and maintain a high level of accuracy in the OR.

Shift Time: 4 10-hour shifts, 6:45 AM - 5:15 PM

Days of the Week: Monday - Friday, with variable days off.

Pay:

$40-55 an hour (Depending on experience)
