Job description

To serve as the primary contact for LASIK scheduling, inquiries, and consultations. Duties include scheduling appointments, reviewing surgery information with patients, and collecting payments.

  • Schedules LASIK consultations, LASIK surgery appointments, and post-LASIK refractions andcollects any applicable payments for services
  • Conducts consultation appointments with prospective LASIK patients to provide information about the LASIK surgery options, and pricing, and answer any patient concerns
  • Performs any applicable diagnostic tests to assist the physician in determining whether the patient is a candidate for LASIK or other refractive surgery
  • Prepares LASIK pre-operative charts and maintains an inventory of marketing materials and informational packets regarding LASIK
  • Tracks and follows up with LASIK inquiries
  • Checks in patients on LASIK surgery day and assists in pre-operative and post-operative care
  • Assist during refractive surgery and ocular surgeries performed in the laser room.
  • Conducts post-operative phone calls to referring optometrists regarding the referred patient's post-operative status and any necessary follow-up care needed
  • Maintains filing system for LASIK charts according to Practice record keeping requirements
  • Schedules cosmetic procedures and collects applicable payment for services
  • Explains financing options and assists patients with financing applications
  • Performs various administrative duties such as answering phones, taking messages, preparing faxes, making copies, scanning documents, filing, stocking supplies, etc.
  • Primary backup for the Surgical Coordinator, working hand-in-hand to make sure department goals and job functions are met
  • Supports the clinic by performing technical workups and diagnostic testing, including, but not limited to
  • IOL Master
  • Auto-Refractor
  • Topographer
  • Works overtime as necessary
  • Follows applicable policies and procedures and takes precautions to establish a safe work environment
  • Maintains strict patient protocols under practice policies/ HIPAA requirements
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism with patients and works to establish a positive rapport
  • Performs other duties as assigned

3-5 Must Have Skills/Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Min. 2 Years of ophthalmic and/or LASIK exp. req.
  • License/Certification: Allegretto Certification and Ziemer Certification or similar
  • Bilingual - Spanish
