Job description

Overview

Admit patients to pre-surgical area and prepare for surgery. Recover and discharge patients after surgery. Monitor patients for entire surgical procedure per surgical suite/recovery room

standards.

Responsibilities

  • Discuss pre-op instructions with patient and significant other when available.
  • This can be accomplished in person at the time of pre-op testing, over the phone, or by mailing completed instructions.
  • Monitor surgical patients throughout surgical experience.
  • Prepare charts for surgery and handle medical records for surgical patients.
  • Draw blood and give patient pre-and post-surgical instruction.
  • Call post operative surgical patients and missed appointments.
  • Schedule surgical procedures.
  • Assist and cover for the surgical scheduler as needed.
  • Audit charts for completion by physician.
  • Compile lab reports, physicals and other pre-operative reports in patients' medical records.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient records, conditions, and outcomes within the practice.

3-5 Must Have Skills/Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.
  • Must be a Registered Nurse (Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree)
  • Must have 2-3 years clinical (nursing) experience in a Recovery Room environment.

Nice to Have Skills

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Orthopedic experience
