Radiation Therapist - 4/10s Schedule - Houston, TX

Non-travel, non-contract role! Direct Hire

Join Our Growing Healthcare Team in Houston!

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Radiation Therapist to join our expanding team in Houston, TX. We are committed to providing state-of-the-art cancer treatment in a caring and supportive environment.

Schedule: 4/10s (Four 10-hour shifts per week)

Pay: Varies based on years of experience - $39-55/h. Open to new grads or seasoned professionals. Please contact for more information

Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Linear Accelerator Operation:
    • Properly initiate and terminate linear accelerator operations.
    • Conduct daily morning Quality Assurance (QA) checks, ensuring adherence to physicist calibrations and setups.
    • Effectively troubleshoot machine malfunctions, 4D software issues, and OBI software problems.
  • Patient Care and Communication:
    • Clearly explain treatment plans and simulation procedures to patients.
    • Utilize two patient identifiers for all interactions.
    • Monitor patient responses to radiation treatment and report findings to the medical assistant or oncology nurse as needed.
  • Treatment Delivery and Documentation:
    • Accurately deliver prescribed radiation doses to designated treatment sites.
    • Employ proper imaging protocols to verify patient positioning and treatment accuracy.
    • Utilize ARIA for comprehensive documentation and daily dose verification.
    • Capture daily activity charges accurately.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to strict safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
    • Perform weekly chart checks on all patients within their shift.
  • Equipment and Environment Maintenance:
    • Maintain a clean and organized treatment and simulation room, dressing rooms, and console area.
    • Properly open and close the facility.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Demonstrate proficiency in operating Varian 21ix linear accelerators, Smart Arc technology, and OBI (IGRT/CBCT) systems.

Must-Have Skills/Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy program.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy.
  • Current Texas Department of Health Services Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Bachelor of Science in Radiation Therapy or a Certificate in Radiation Therapy.
