Quality Technician

Job description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform incoming quality and first article inspection on purchased components and document results.
  • Verify steel gage, geometry, certifications, and appearance.
  • Perform final inspection of tubes and/or weldments prior to shipment to sister facilities.
  • Conduct in-process audits to standard work and control plans.
  • Report discrepancies (non-conformances) to appropriate supervisors, Quality Manager, and/or Supplier Quality Engineers for corrective action.
  • Initiate discrepancy reports on rejected material using Oracle and OneNote.
  • Perform review, sorting, or rework of line rejects as assigned.
  • Track and document quality process performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Support ATO Final Inspection as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum two years of experience in mechanical inspection or equivalent combination of experience and related technical school degree.
  • Proficient in surface plate part setup and the use of basic measuring tools (calipers, gauge pins, height gage, micrometer, paint thickness gage, etc.)
  • Able to read and understand work instructions, schematics, blueprints, and GD&T
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft products (Outlook, Excel, Word, OneNote)
  • Able to effectively communicate in English (speak, read, write and understand)
  • Detail oriented
  • Flexibility to change shifts for a few days as backup support if needed, highly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Capable of lifting up to 30 lbs occasionally and up to 50 lbs rarely.
  • Walk, stand, bend, squat, kneel, twist/turn, reach overhead, and grasp tools, as necessary.
