Psychiatric Registered Nurse

Location: Brooklyn Park, MN
Pay: $33.89 - $56.61/hr

Overview:
We are seeking a Psychiatric RN to provide care for patients ages 4-18 experiencing psychiatric and mental health disorders. Responsibilities include planning, evaluating, and supervising nursing care in compliance with policies and procedures.

Shifts Available:

• Day/Evening, Day/Night, Evening/Night, and Straight Evening shifts
• Shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend hours

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor child and adolescent patients' daily functioning, supporting mental health symptom management.
• Apply critical thinking to deliver safe, quality care.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure safe patient care, receiving and giving feedback.
• Utilize therapeutic techniques to manage milieus, reducing restraint and seclusion when possible.
• Conduct group nursing sessions as scheduled.
• Complete patient assessments at admission and facilitate discharge planning.
• Administer and educate patients and families about medications.
• Perform interventions as directed by physicians, including lab draws and EKGs, and communicate results to providers.
• Follow infection control practices and educate patients.
• Deliver care that respects patients' and families' diversity, autonomy, and dignity.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and stay updated on psychiatric/mental health nursing practices.
• Intervene in crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and other least restrictive interventions.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to Psychiatric Technicians.

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
• Current RN license in Minnesota.
• One year of psychiatric/mental health experience within the last two years preferred.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally, handle stressful situations, and prioritize effectively.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and EHR systems.
• Team-oriented and committed to high-quality care.

Additional Information:

• Rotating weekends/holidays required, with no full weekends off.
• Full-time considered at 0.8 FTE, with 0.6 FTE positions available (benefits not provided for 0.6 FTE).
