Job description

HIRING Material Handlers and Production Operators! Medix Life Sciences is the fastest growing staffing organization specializing in Clinical Research and Life Sciences placements for all the major health systems and research organizations throughout the country. Medix is looking for someone with 0-2 years of experience in manufacturing.

  • 0-2 years experience in manufacturing

Position Summary: Location: Grafton, WI 53024 Pay: $18-19/hr based on shift Hours: M-F 2p-10:30p OR Sun-Thurs 10p-6:30a Duration: 9 months contract to hire

Position Description:

  • Sets up and operates a production machine safely in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. Inspect product for flaws. Also responsible for final packaging of products, as well as custom or private label assembling and packaging, which could include one or more of the following operations; assembling multi-packs, capping, shrink wrapping, labeling, boxing and assorting. Participate in continuous improvement efforts as invited.
  • Using a forklift or hand truck, transport all materials.
  • Complete material transfers, purchase order receipts, and shipping transactions in ERP system via PC or barcode scanning.
  • Check and maintain all Kanban production areas and replenish as necessary, including visual inspection of applicable material bins.
  • Transfer completed orders to queued area and/or warehouse; complete corresponding transactions into ERP system.
  • Generate and pick customer order picklists ensuring accurate part, lot number, and quantity.
  • Create necessary shipping documentation including BOLs, Invoices, SLIs or related documentation.
  • Communicate with internal groups for pertinent information, including purchasing, manufacturing, scheduling, customer service, etc.
  • Communicate with motor carriers/parcel services to obtain rate quotes and scheduling the appropriate pick up times; fill out paperwork and tracking information.
  • Assist in training new employees, as well as actively participate in lean manufacturing activities.
  • Perform standard warehouse operations, including location/pallet consolidation, remaining balance verification, location organization and standard location replenishment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the function of the job.
  • Ability to work with hands at a fast pace to assemble, label and package products.
  • Ability to operate automated machinery with attention to details and a 'safety-first' mentality.
  • Ability to use basic measuring devices.
  • Ability to take direction.
  • Able to work on a team and move to different tasks as required by the team.
