Job description

We are looking for a remote Data Platforms Engineer to join our health insurer client on a minimal 12-month hourly consulting/contract opportunity. This health insurer has over 8 decades of experience providing health insurance for people and organizations through the Northwest United States. This opportunity will join a small data development/integrations team that creates measures to tell a story about patients healthcare and helps get people into the doctor to get the care they need.

This position will be an hourly contract role through Medix Techology working remotely for our client. The duration will be minimally 12 months, and has an option to go permanent.

Location: prefer one (Oregon, Washington, Idaho) - favor folks in those areas BUT we can look in a remote capacity.


  • This individual will be working with the vendor in terms of consuming and sending data, retrieving the data from the vendor, storing in the data warehouse, and then creating reports utilizing different BI tools
  • Taking data from the core system and running it through systems to measure and use in various reporting purposes
  • Work on a small data engineering team (run this data integration process with this software from 3rd party)
  • Receive and deliver data with vendor and facilitate data integrations around that platform which can include report development as well
  • Deal with data extracts from provider, ships to vendor, vendor does number crunching, then returns the data to this company, then they store into a data warehouse and create reporting on that data
  • Get data extracts from the provider that they need to load to vendor - vendor does number crunching and sends back that they put in their data warehouse then creates reports on that data.
  • Highly regulated part of business development measures - writing code that develops a measure of success.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • ETL background from a healthcare perspective
  • HEDIS or Quality Reporting experience in Health industry strongly preferred
  • 4-6 years of development experience utilizing SSIS, SQL, python skills - Would accept minimum two with strong HEDIS experience.
  • Diverse approaches for data development integration
  • HEDIS experience would be ideal , but not necessarily a MUST have
  • Understanding of report running
  • Potential future state would be to transition those to cloud based tools like data factory data bricks (works differently) Data bricks is pyspark based solution
  • Know how to write SQL or Python using databricks or some data platform to deliver to the system and take it back
