Job description

If you are a Registered Nurse trying to get your foot in the door with the VA, then this is a great opportunity for you!

Location: VA Naval Medical Center Portsmouth - 620 John Paul Jones Circle, Portsmouth, VA 23708

Shift: Full-time, Day/Night 6 week rotations. This facility has 24/7 coverage

Start Date: ASAP

Job Details: Perform a full range of RN duties in accordance with assignment under the task order, including: triage; patient assessment and monitoring; use of patient monitoring and treatment equipment; appropriate nursing care, procedures, and treatments; execution of physicians' orders within the guidelines of standard nursing practice; documentation of patient care and observations; and patient education and emotional support.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Possess and maintain a current unrestricted license to practice as a registered nurse in any one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands
  • Possess and maintain certification in Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS). Possess and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Possess and maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification. Possess and maintain certification in Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Labs, and Emotional Support (S.T.A.B.L.E.).

Experience Required:

  • Possess a minimum of 18 months of full-time experience as an RN
  • Working in PICU within the last 24 months
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Military expereince or association OR previous employment with a government facility
