Job description

Responsibilities

  • Greet and room patients into appropriate exam rooms.
  • Perform patient triage including assessment of vital signs and anthropometric measures.
  • Review patient charts to ensure all necessary documentation is present and complete.
  • Obtain chief complaints and pertinent information regarding patient visits.
  • Prepare charts to include all diagnostic documentation needed for patient care.
  • Prepare patients for physical examinations and assist the provider accordingly.
  • Explain medical procedures to patients.
  • Communicate information obtained through telephone encounters to nursing and medical providers.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed by a licensed provider.
  • Conduct tests and procedures such as EKGs, urine dipsticks, and glucometer tests.
  • Draw blood and obtain other specimens as required.
  • Perform rapid tests for pregnancy, UTIs, and STIs.
  • Assist providers with minor surgical procedures and administer nebulizer treatments as ordered.
  • Disinfect exam room surfaces and medical equipment per policy.
  • Document all patient information and results accurately in the patient's chart.
  • Manage clinical supplies inventory and coordinate orders for re-stocking with Nurse Manager or Practice Administrator.
  • Assist with referrals and coordinate services with other healthcare facilities and organizations.
