Position: Order Entry/Pharmacy Technician

Location: Bridgeville, PA

Schedule: Varies with rotating weekends

Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Order Entry/Pharmacy Technician to join our long-term care pharmacy team. Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you will perform customer service and order entry tasks to deliver superior patient care and customer service. You will also support daily activities in a closed-door pharmacy environment, promoting efficiency, staff retention, and quality service.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Communicate with nursing facilities, prescribers' offices, and insurance plans via phone or fax to fill orders, answer questions, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Review and complete all orders before routing them for order entry.
  • Check and verify order shortages, refill requests, pending orders from the previous day, and process them accordingly.
  • Collaborate with Billing Representatives to manage and process pending order claims.
  • Research and resolve issues related to missing deliveries, medication orders, or incorrect prescriptions.
  • Report unresolved issues to the appropriate pharmacy personnel.
  • Enter profile information into patient profiles accurately.
  • Process orders received from electronic or faxed prescriptions, ensuring accurate data entry in the pharmacy system.
  • Calculate and verify the quantity of orders based on requests or automated system inputs.
  • Perform data entry for implementation, reorders, new orders, PRN orders, readmissions, and new admissions.
  • Ensure orders are processed according to pharmacy cutoff times and delivery windows.
  • Prepare first-dose orders, including test claiming for accurate billing if required.
  • Verify accurate input of new orders and profile patients into the database.
  • Maintain records of medication and equipment dispensed to residents, compute charges, and enter data in the computer.
  • Promote open communication between internal and external customers, enhance cooperative efforts, and improve pharmacy production performance.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Behaviors:

  • Basic knowledge of data entry and pharmacy operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle confrontational inquiries professionally and courteously.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to provide superior customer service.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to research and identify billing errors and appropriate solutions.
  • Experience with automated tasking systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, cooperative environment.
