Job description

Hours:

  • 9:30a-6p M-F
  • *Training duration will begin at 8 AM

Must Haves

  • Pharmacy Tech License - active, MN
  • Experience in a fast pace role
  • Customer service skills

Day to Day Activities:

  • Answers phones for the pharmacy department and directs calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains knowledge of the Hospital Credit and Collection Policy and other related policies.
  • Prepackages, prepares, labels and hands out prescriptions after they are checked by a registered pharmacist.
  • Maintains cash registers, credit card machines and reporting for cash transactions.
  • Prepares daily deposits for the cashier's office.
  • Bills and credits patient medications.
  • Stocks inventory in Pharmacy.
  • Routinely checks and removes outdated and expired medications.
  • Delivers medications to patient care and ancillary areas and picks up new orders as scheduled.
  • Files prescriptions and reports.
  • Maintains the pharmacy in a clean and organized fashion.
  • Enters outpatient prescriptions
  • Obtains and records patient drug histories
  • Triages orders, determines priorities, processes orders and notifies the pharmacist as appropriate
  • Performs various calculations to determine the correct dose using weight
  • Identifies the appropriate product to process based on the prescription order
  • Triages insurance rejections and initiates prior authorization claims as needed
  • Uses appropriate pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations and symbols
