Job description

We're currently hiring for a Pharmacy Service Technician position at a long-term care pharmacy. This is a full-time role, offering 40 hours per week with 8-hour shifts and flexibility to choose your schedule between Monday to Friday.

Please note - the sites this person would be traveling to is within the South Bay Area & there is an on-call requirement. Locations are below:

  • Burlingame, CA 94010
  • San Bruno, CA 94066
  • Menlo Park, CA 94025
  • Sunnyvale, CA 94087

The LTC Pharmacy has dispensing machines (Omnicell) in each of the Long Term Care facilities they partner with. This person will be stopping into these facilities consistently to restock inventory (meds), do preventative cleaning and repairs, send back expired medications, etc.

  • Pay: $25-$28/hour
  • Requirements: Pharmacy Technician license in California
  • Role Details:
  • Travel to 3-4 different sites per day, assisting with a total of 5 sites.
  • Mileage reimbursement provided for travel.

  • Support and lead pre-implementation mediation loading as required by pharmacy operations Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Perform first-call troubleshooting protocols for automated dispensing units. Timely escalation to Tier II as outlined in service recovery guidelines.
  • Perform weekly routine maintenance on automated dispensing units and medication rooms as outlined in the Pharmacy Service Technician On-Site Checklist.
  • Timely and accurate documentation of all service events, service activities, and on-site training activities as required utilizing the provided ticket tracking system.
  • Communicate with external service experts on an as-needed basis to troubleshoot difficult service issues.
  • Review, evaluate, and communicate with nursing staff daily for issues in regarding automated dispensing units
  • Act as liaison for assigned pharmacy regarding questions when they arise from various facilities.
  • Maintain all environmental specification related to the automated dispensing units.
  • Place stock into automated dispensing units as appropriate.
  • Review and monitor inventory and reorder as necessary.
  • Conduct periodic medical cart audits, remove expired medications and flag reorder dates.
  • Confer with facility to ensure automated dispensing functionality is meeting expectations.
  • Initiate and perform Disaster Recovery protocols as required for non-functional automated dispensing units.
  • Train and or retrain staff on the proper use of the automated dispensing units and pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures as necessary.
  • Provide high level of customer service by responding promptly to the requests of all personnel at equipment placement location and the central hub pharmacy location.
  • Replace refillable supplies on pharmacy supplied equipment.
  • Perform on-call responsibilities as required.
  • Assist with pharmacy hub operations when appropriate (canister filling, order entry, triage, re-optimizations)
  • Attend and participate in periodic nursing meetings when appropriate


On call situation: Individuals will have a 4 hour window for on call. They will get a $ 20 stipend on top of their hourly rate whenever going in if ever called in. They should be available at all times, but it normally happens once a month. There are also some structured "on call weekends" as well.
