Job description

Overview:
We are seeking a Patient Financial Counselor - Insurance/Authorization Specialist to join our team. This role is critical in facilitating insurance authorizations for home health patients, ensuring all services are covered for reimbursement. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, customer service expertise, and proficiency in navigating insurance requirements.

Position Details:

  • Location: Fully onsite
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekends (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM). Weekend rotation approximately once a month.
  • Employment Type: Contract through May 2025, with the potential for extension.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Accurately verify insurance benefits and document patient benefits with payers.
  • Facilitate authorization requests for home health services.
  • Identify potential copays for patients and coordinate payment per payer specifications.
  • Maintain accurate home health documentation, including appropriate write-offs.
  • Resolve insurance errors and research payer requirements.
  • Ensure patient benefit details are updated and accurate in EMR systems.
  • Respond to patient inquiries regarding insurance benefits and coverage.

Must-Have Skills:

  • 1-2 years of experience in insurance verification.
  • 1-2 years of experience with authorization processes.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records.

Compliance Requirements:

  • Background check, drug screening, TB test, and COVID-19 vaccination compliance.
