Job description

Medix is hiring a Patient Financial Advocate for a healthcare system in Baltimore, MD!

Location: Baltimore, MD

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

Pay: $17 - $19

Job Description:

This position is responsible for pre-registration activities and gathering demographic information for intake. The main responsibilities of this role are to perform basic office functions such as scheduling patient appointments, tests and procedures. This role may also schedule physician referrals internally or externally, and provides alternative medical resources for patients as needed. This position may also participate in financial transactions such as following up on unpaid balances, collecting payment at the time of the appointment, and preparing receipts for all monies collected.

Job Requirements:

  • EMR Experience - Cerner preferred
  • 1 year of experience as a Patient Financial Advocate
  • Personable, patient, strong customer service skills

What you'll do:

  • Face to face (bedside) and over the phone interactions with patients
  • Assist patients with financial assistance applications
  • Communicate with patients, caseworkers, and work within a small team
  • Work with spreadsheets and Excel
  • Conduct follow ups with discharged patients for additional information or documents
