Job description

Medix is hiring a Patient Call Service Representative to support a Ophthalmology practice in Pittsburgh, PA. The Remote Ophthalmology Service Specialist works as part of a team facilitating patient care and is often the first contact patients have with the organization. As a liaison of the practice, the Ophthalmology Call Service Specialist is responsible for initiating the intake process by gathering patient information and scheduling appointments. This role will be on-site for training, but after compentencies are shown it will be a remote role.

Essential Job Functions/Duties

  • Operate multi-line cloud-based phone system.
  • Schedule new or return patient appointments.
  • Enter and review patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Manage and maintain appointment schedules.
  • Confirm, cancel, and move patient appointments.
  • Ensure patients are rescheduled or placed in recall status.
  • Retrieve and respond to messages left on the scheduling message line and the online message format.
  • Answer patient and family questions during the intake process or relay questions to the physician and/or triage department for further discussion with the patient.
  • Accept inquiries, return telephone calls, and prioritize urgent patients completely and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with patient care representatives to facilitate insurance processing.
  • Enter notes or special instructions required for scheduling in the electronic medical record.
  • Communicate the need for prior authorization to appropriate parties as needed.
  • Assist other members of the department as needed.
  • Ensure call quality and metrics (KPI's) are in line with company and role expectations.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday

8am-4:30pm

No weekends or evenings

After ~3 month training period, this will be a remote role.

Position Requirements:

  • 1+ years Medical Scheduling experience
  • Ophthalmology experience, preferred not required
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Candidates must have their own equipment/laptop to work from
