Patient Account Representative

Job description

  • Follow-Up and Payment Management: Proactively follow up on outstanding balances, contacting patients by phone to discuss and resolve account details, ensuring timely payment.
  • External Collection Actions: Manage accounts for external collection actions as a last resort, after all internal collection efforts have been exhausted.
  • Payment Processing: Process payments over the phone and set up payment plans as needed to support timely account resolution.
  • Credit Research and Refund Processing: Research and prepare patient credits, coordinating with the accounting team to process approved refunds accurately and efficiently.
  • Patient Information Management: Update and maintain accurate demographic information to ensure clear and accurate patient statements.
  • Call Volume Management: Efficiently manage a high call volume, with a target of handling approximately 300 calls per week (around 60 calls per day) professionally and effectively.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 1-2 years in self-pay, billing customer service, or collections roles, with proven skills in account management.
  • EMR Knowledge: Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMRs), with NextGen experience being a plus.
  • Customer Service: Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with patients.
  • EOB Knowledge: Solid understanding of Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to accurately interpret and explain account information.

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • After training, flexible start times between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM are available!

Compensation

  • $18 to $21 per hour, based on experience
