Job description

Job Title: Patient Access Representative

Location: Springfield

Shift Schedule: Shifts between the hours of 5:00 AM and 7:00 PM; may include rotating Saturdays and holidays

Position Type: Contract-to-Hire through Medix

Pay Rate: $15/hour

Summary: As a Patient Access Representative, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a seamless experience for patients during their healthcare journey. You will be responsible for greeting patients, verifying their information, collecting insurance details, scheduling appointments, and assisting with any inquiries they may have. This position requires flexibility as you will be assigned to different departments within the healthcare facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and visitors with a warm and welcoming demeanor.
  • Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information accurately.
  • Schedule appointments and procedures according to established guidelines.
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations.
  • Assist patients with completing necessary forms and documents.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate with various departments to ensure smooth patient flow.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and other staff members to address patient needs effectively.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in healthcare administration is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting or customer service role preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes preferred.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle stressful situations with composure.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity for computer work and paperwork.
