Job description

Job Summary:

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for managing the front-line duties of patient registration, verification, and scheduling in a healthcare facility. This role ensures that all patient information is accurately entered into the system, assists with insurance verification, and provides excellent customer service to patients, visitors, and healthcare providers. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess excellent communication skills, and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Registration:

    • Greet and register patients in a professional and courteous manner.
    • Obtain and verify necessary personal, insurance, and demographic information.
    • Ensure all required forms and consents are completed accurately.
  • Insurance Verification:

    • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments.
    • Communicate with insurance companies as necessary to ensure proper coverage and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Scheduling Appointments:

    • Schedule patient appointments based on provider availability and patient needs.
    • Coordinate appointments, ensuring all required information is accurately entered into the system.
  • Customer Service:

    • Answer patient inquiries regarding services, appointments, billing, and insurance coverage.
    • Address and resolve patient concerns in a timely, compassionate manner.
  • Data Entry & Records Management:

    • Accurately enter patient information into electronic health records (EHR) or other relevant systems.
    • Ensure all information is up to date and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Compliance:

    • Adhere to healthcare regulations, privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA), and organizational policies.
    • Maintain confidentiality of patient records and sensitive information.
  • Collaborate with Other Departments:

    • Work closely with medical staff, billing, and other departments to ensure smooth patient flow and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Other Duties as Assigned:

    • Perform additional tasks related to patient services as required.
