Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and team-focused individual to join our team as a Patient Access Represenative. This role is crucial to ensuring a smooth and efficient process for assigning patient beds while maintaining adherence to hospital policies and patient care standards. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, calm under pressure, and capable of working collaboratively with nursing supervisors and other healthcare staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Bed Assignment Coordination:

    • Assign patient beds based on detailed criteria such as service type, isolation orders, private room requests, patient gender, and surgeon assignments.
    • Ensure patients of the same surgeon are not placed in the same room unless explicitly approved.
  2. Patient Admission and Registration:

    • Admit and register patients when not assigned to bed board duties.
    • Accurately input patient information into the system, ensuring all records are complete and compliant with hospital policies.
  3. Communication and Collaboration:

    • Handle high-volume phone calls related to bed assignments with professionalism and efficiency.
    • Work closely with Nursing Supervisors to address bed placement challenges and implement solutions.
  4. Adaptability and Teamwork:

    • Flexibly rotate between bed board duties and patient admissions as needed, prioritizing the primary responsibilities of the role.
    • Support team operations with a positive attitude and willingness to adjust to varying workflows.

Requirements:

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to process complex information quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure, especially during high call volumes.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional Saturdays.
  • Prior experience in patient registration, hospital administration, or bed management is preferred but not required.

Work Schedule:

  • Operating hours: Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM - 9:00 PM; Saturday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
  • Flexibility to work early ("open" 6:30 AM - 2:00 PM) or late shifts ("close" 12:30 PM - 9:00 PM) one day a week.
  • Regular weekday hours (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM) with availability to work 1 Saturday per month (overtime eligible).
  • Additional hours as needed during the week to support team needs.
