Job description

Job Posting: Patient Registration Specialist

Location: Bakersfield
Schedule: Flexible, with peak hours from 11 AM - 11 PM. Shifts include evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends (10-hour shifts).


Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Patient Registration Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring a seamless registration process for patients while providing excellent customer service. This includes verifying insurance, collecting payments, and maintaining accurate patient records. Key Responsibilities

  • Register and pre-register patients, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorizations across various payers (HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medi-Cal, etc.).
  • Confirm and update patient demographics.
  • Explain hospital policies, patient financial responsibilities, and rights.
  • Collect co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patient inquiries with professionalism.
  • Perform general administrative duties, such as maintaining files, scheduling appointments, and producing correspondence.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in healthcare registration or related administrative roles (hospital or clinic settings preferred).
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in insurance verification, authorization processes, and billing.
    • Familiarity with HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medi-Cal, and commercial payers.
    • Type 45 WPM with 10-key proficiency.
    • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Attributes:
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
    • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
