Job description

We are currently seeking a Patient Access Representative to join a leading ophthalmology practice specializing in Retina care. We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented individual to provide exceptional support to our patients and ensure a smooth office operation.

Job Title: Patient Access Representative

Location: Altoona, PA (10% travel to Johnstown, PA)

Salary: $18 - $21 per hour, based on qualifications and experience

Hours: Monday to Friday, starting at 7:30/8 AM; end time varies based on patient volume

Key Responsibilities:

  • Open and close the office daily
  • Collect pre-files (patient records) from referring offices
  • Determine visit urgency based on collected information
  • Manage patient check-in and check-out processes
  • Schedule appointments efficiently
  • Collect payments (copays and self-pay) from patients

Qualifications:

  • Experience in check-in and check-out processes is essential
  • Excellent phone demeanor and strong communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills are necessary
  • Prior experience in ophthalmology is not required
