Job description

Overview of Registration Rep Opening

  • Onsite at Medical Center (Fountain Valley) in the ER Department
  • Ideally 5+ years of Patient Access/Registration/Admitting experience in a similar hospital setting
  • Comfortability in an extremely high paced environment
  • EPIC experience
  • Attendance and punctuality is the biggest priority - need someone who is committed, and can consistently show up to work each day
  • Must present themselves professionally both in mannerisms, as well as appearance (no excessive tattoos, facial piercings, or dyed hair), will wear MemorialCare shirt onsite with black pants and comfortable shoes. A jacket is also recommended.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in hospital admitting, physician office, or equivalent healthcare
  • Must have a strong insurance background and be proficient navigating insurance verification and insurance-related questions
  • Must communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing
  • Strong customer service skills
  • General knowledge of insurance payors: PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Medicare, Medi-Cal, & CalOptima
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish, or English/Vietnamese) is a plus
  • Positive work ethic
  • General computer skills required including: electronic medical record and Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of medical terminology

Training

  • 1 week of getting to know the team and their systems
  • EPIC training will happen from 8-5 in Fountain Valley during their first week as well so they should plan for that to be their schedule early on until converting to their main shift

Overview

  • Position Description:
    The Registration /Pre-Registration Representative is responsible for completing all registrations of patients presenting for procedures, admissions or the ER. The Representative must collect and verify demographic and insurance information so that the patient can be accurately identified and billed for their services. Excellent customer service must be maintained with all patients and co-workers. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of the organization.
