PACU Registered Nurse
Setting: Outpatient surgery
Location: Hershey Pennsylvania 17033
Typical pay range: $38 - 45/hr
Schedule/Shift: Start can vary from 5:30a-7:30a (depends on procedure schedule) ends around 3:30 (depends on patients recovery).

Overview
The Pacu RN plays a crucial role in the post-operative care of patients who have undergone surgical procedures requiring anesthesia. They are responsible for closely monitoring patients as they recover from anesthesia and assisting them in transitioning safely from the operating room to the recovery phase.

Key responsibilities
Assessing patients' vital signs, monitoring their consciousness levels, managing pain and discomfort, ensuring proper wound care, and providing emotional support to patients and their families. Pacu RNs must possess excellent critical thinking skills, be adept at multitasking, and have a strong understanding of anesthesia effects and their potential complications. Additionally, they collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care and contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient post-anesthesia environment

Common Procedures Include: Urology, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, General Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Neurosurgery, ENT, Gynecology, and Pain Management (all outpatient procedures)

Requirements
CAPA or CPAN
PA RN License
2+ yrs ICU experience
4+ years total nursing experience
Prior Outpatient/PACU experience
