Responsibilities and Duties
What We Need:
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (associates or bachelor's degree)
- Minimum of three (3) years previous OR experience
- Ideal candidate will have a minimum of four (4) years total RN experience
- Current Oregon License as a Registered Nurse
- Current BLS - ACLS & PALS preferred, and required within 6 months of hire
- CNOR preferred
- Possess the ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
- Possess the ability to deal tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and employees
- Knowledgeable of hospital/ASC policies and procedures specific to the operating room
- Clinically proficient in operating room nursing skills, having worked in a variety of specialties
- Demonstrated knowledge of the development needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient
Job Duties & Functions:
- Develop an individualized perioperative plan of care
- Implement patient plan of care using the following interventions:
- Protect patient from injury caused by chemical, electrical, laser, positioning, thermal sources, and extraneous objects
- Perform count procedures to protect patient from unintended retained foreign objects
- Perform interventions necessary to ensure patient's procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level
- Manage patient's specimen(s) in the appropriate manner
- Communicate patient's current status throughout the continuum of care
- Administer medication(s) appropriately
- Perform interventions to maintain patient's wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels
- Perform interventions to maintain the status of the patient's genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems, and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances at or above baseline levels
- Perform interventions to ensure the patient is at or returned to normothermia at the conclusion of the immediate postoperative period
- Perform interventions to protect patient from infection
- Evaluate the patient's progress toward attaining outcomes
- Transfer care as appropriate
- Uses nursing judgment in decision-making
- Maintains or acquires skills on equipment necessary to complete required responsibilities
- Documents all records according to established policies and procedures
- Assists with reviewing and updating policies and procedures
- Performs effectively in stressful situations to fulfill position responsibilities
- Performs additional duties as needed by the department
- Actively participates in appropriate committee and CQI activities
- Informs Clinical Manager(s) of applicable day-to-day situations
