Job description

Job Summary:

As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our ophthalmologists by performing preliminary eye exams, gathering patient histories, assisting during procedures, and ensuring high-quality patient care. You'll be responsible for using specialized equipment and tests to help diagnose eye conditions and maintain accurate patient records.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment: Greet patients and obtain detailed medical and ocular histories; document information accurately in electronic health records.
  • Perform Diagnostic Tests: Conduct a variety of diagnostic tests including visual acuity, refraction, tonometry, visual field tests, OCT, fundus photography, and other imaging as directed by the physician.
  • Assist Ophthalmologists: Support physicians during eye exams and minor procedures; assist with administering eye drops or medications as required.
  • Educate Patients: Provide patients with information on pre- and post-procedure care, eye care techniques, and assist with instructions for contact lens use.
  • Maintain Equipment and Cleanliness: Ensure diagnostic equipment is cleaned and calibrated, organize exam rooms, and stock supplies as needed.
  • Administrative Duties: Schedule appointments, verify insurance, answer patient questions, and coordinate with other departments to streamline patient care.
  • Maintain Patient Confidentiality: Uphold strict confidentiality by handling patient information in compliance with HIPAA and privacy regulations.

Minimum Education and Experience Qualification: completed High School diploma or equivalent, prior Medical Assistant or Ophthalmic Technician experience

Schedule/ Shift: Mon-Fri 7:45-4:15 PM
