Hours: Scheduling flexibility is required as the clinic does take emergency patients. Start time 7:50am. Very latest you would be out by 6/6:30pm. If there is emergency patients/an emergency surgery, we ask that the clinical staff is flexible to that

Job Type: Contract to hire

Job Title: Medical Assistant/Surgical Tech

Pay: $18-24/hr based on experience (22-24/hr is reserved for surgical tech background)

Available Location(s): Monroeville, PA; Bethel Park, PA; Cranberry, PA; Johnstown, PA; Altoona, PA; Tridelphia, PA

Clinical Staff Required to Travel to 2 Offices Minimum (only 1-2 times per week would you travel to a place that is not your home office).

Overview:

• Initiate patient evaluation, documenting the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, past surgeries, all medications, and all pertinent ocular findings accurately in accordance with compliance guidelines.
• Perform pre-exam testing to include visual acuity assessment, tonometry, pupillary dilation, and all other patient services as requested by the physician.
• Setup for procedures including intravitreal injections which requires pulling drug, documenting in E.H.R. lot number, expiration date and other pertinent drug data.
• Clean surgical instruments in preparation for sterile processing.
• Conduct inventory of instrument supply as directed.
• Assist with maintenance of clinical exam equipment as directed.
• Ordering of clinical supplies as directed.
• Open and close exam and injection rooms
• Assist in photography if trained to do so.

Requirements:

• High School Graduate or GED required.
• Medical assisting diploma or Ophthalmic/surgical tech
• Outstanding interpersonal skills as well as neat and professional appearance are mandatory.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent typing skills and previous electronic health record experience such as EPIC, Nextgen, etc.
• Previous medical office clinical experience and previous ophthalmology experience preferred.
