Job Description
Provides individualized care to patients in the Center in accordance with physician's orders, recognized nursing techniques, legal aspects of current nursing practice within the state and the Center's policies and procedures. Functions cooperatively with physicians and staff exhibiting teamwork characteristics. Demonstrates initiative, insight and judgment in decision making process.
Overview

Test equipment function and reports and malfunctions.

Identifies the patient using 2 different identifiers.

Verifies procedure, patient, and operative site (TIME OUT)

Verifies allergies.

Uses gowns and gloves according to policy.

Practices recognized principles of aseptic technique.

Drapes patient and equipment without contamination.

Monitors self and others in the sterile field.

Recognizes and reports breaks in aseptic techniques.

Implements corrective action to remedy contamination errors.

Use safe practice with tissue and specimens within the sterile field.

Confines contamination to the area around the sterile field.

Prevents cross-contamination.

Demonstrates understanding of the disctinction between clean and sterile problems.

Handles tissue specimens correctly and accurately.

Implements appropriate action when counts are incorrect.

3-5 Must Have Skills/Qualifications
  • Current State License as an RN/LPN
  • BCLS Certification
  • PALS/ACLS Certification and Re-Certification
  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
  • 1 Year Circulating/OR Experience
